TMJ Relief Massage

TMJ Relief Massage

  • Your TMJ Relief Massage is a full body approach that focuses on the jaw but also considers the hips, rib cage, neck, and nervous system. Jaw tension rarely exists in isolation. Patterns in posture, breath, and pelvic alignment often contribute to clenching, headaches, or facial pain. During your session, we work through these interconnected areas so your jaw can release without being forced.

  • With your consent, I will include gentle intra-oral techniques that target the deeper muscles of the jaw. I put on a fresh pair of medical gloves and use one to two fingers inside the cheek or along the gum line while supporting your head from the outside. Pressure is slow, precise, and always guided by your comfort. You can expect light pressure on muscles that often go overlooked, such as the masseter, buccinator, and pterygoids. You may feel a deep release, a twitch response, or an easing of pressure behind the teeth and ears. You are encouraged to breathe, stay present, and let me know if anything needs to be adjusted.

  • You guide the pace. You can pause at any time. I explain what I am doing before I do it, and you always have the choice to decline intra-oral work if it does not feel right for you that day.

  • Since the jaw connects to the entire body through fascia and the nervous system, we may also address areas such as the hips, low back, diaphragm, and neck. Many clients with chronic jaw tension carry compensations in the pelvis or experience tightness in the deep lateral line. Releasing these areas improves jaw mobility and helps the results of the session last longer.

  • Most clients describe the TMJ Relief Massage as grounding, relieving, and surprisingly restorative. The goal is not only to ease jaw tension but to support the entire body so your system can return to a more comfortable resting state.
